The next step in the evolution of skin tightening is here with Xerf.  Xerf can remodel the structure of tissue to restore firmness from within.  Xerf delivers all the skin-tightening, collagen-boosting power of radiofrequency (RF) energy, without numbing or needles. The Xerf treatment delivers RF energy deeper into the skin, reaching the shallow, middle, and deep layers of the skin.  If tighter, firmer skin sounds great, but needles, numbing cream, and downtime don’t, Xerf is the new device in our office worth knowing about!

From a softening jawline to skin that doesn’t feel quite as firm as it used to, XERF offers our patients a new way to stimulate collagen and support smoother, tighter-looking skin.

So what exactly makes XERF different? Let’s answer some of the questions we’re hearing most.

What is XERF?

XERF is the world’s first multifrequency monopolar RF treatment.  It delivers both immediate and lasting skin tightening results. XERF harnesses proprietary multi-depth technology that can remodel the structure of the tissue to restore firmness subdermally through collagen and elastin thickening, strengthening and shortening.

XERF is a non-invasive radiofrequency (RF) treatment that uses controlled heat to target the structures beneath the skin that contribute to firmness and support.

Radiofrequency itself isn’t new; it’s been used in aesthetic medicine for years. What makes XERF different is that it uses two RF frequencies, 6.78 MHz and 2 MHz, rather than a single frequency. This advanced multifrequency RF energy with Wave Fit ™ pulse technology, each XERF pulse is cooled via Integrated Cryogen Deliveryy (ICD) to provide a comfortable, safe and effective procedure. This allows the device to deliver energy at multiple tissue depths during treatment.

In simpler terms, instead of focusing on just one layer, XERF can work at shallow, middle, and deeper levels to encourage collagen remodeling and create a firmer, more supported appearance.

How Does XERF Work?

When you come into our office for a treatment, a smooth handpiece is passed over the skin, delivering uniform energy and real time temp monitoring enables safe treatments beneath the surface of the skin.  The controlled heat creates a tightening effect in the tissue and triggers the skin’s natural collagen-remodeling response.

You may notice some tightening soon after treatment, but XERF isn’t about an immediate effect. Your skin continues rebuilding and remodeling collagen over the weeks and months that follow.

XERF also uses real-time feedback to assess the skin and offers multiple depth and intensity settings, allowing treatment to be customized to each patient.

XERF vs. RF Microneedling: What’s the Difference?

They both use radiofrequency energy, but the way they deliver it is very different.

RF microneedling uses tiny needles to penetrate the skin and deliver RF energy directly into the dermis. Those controlled micro-injuries can be especially useful when addressing concerns such as texture and acne scarring, in addition to stimulating collagen.

XERF doesn’t puncture the skin at all. Energy is delivered through a flat treatment tip from the skin’s surface, so there are no needles or open microchannels. That means XERF can be an appealing choice for someone primarily interested in lifting, tightening, and firming who’d rather skip the needles and recovery associated with more invasive treatments.

Does XERF Hurt?

For most of our patients, XERF is designed to be very comfortable.

The system uses Integrated Cryogen Delivery to cool the skin as RF energy is delivered. Patients can expect to feel warmth during treatment, sometimes described as similar to a warm-stone massage. The intensity can also be adjusted throughout the procedure based on your comfort level.

Is There Any Downtime?

Another big XERF benefit: there’s essentially no planned downtime.

Some patients may notice temporary pinkness, warmth, or mild swelling immediately afterward, but these effects generally resolve within several hours to a day. Most people can return to their normal routine right away. That makes XERF especially attractive if you want meaningful skin rejuvenation without having to plan your social calendar around your treatment.

What Areas Can Be Treated?

At Dy Dermatology Center, XERF can be used to address laxity and loss of firmness on areas including the:

  • Face and jawline
  • Neck
  • Arms
  • Abdomen
  • Legs

Treatment is customized depending on the area and your individual skin concerns.

Who’s a Good Candidate for XERF?

XERF may be a great fit if you’re beginning to notice mild skin laxity, early jowling, or an overall loss of firmness and want to take a proactive approach to collagen support without surgery or needles.

The manufacturer states that XERF can be used across skin types. However, it isn’t meant to replace a facelift or surgical treatment for significant loose or draping skin. Your consultation with us is important, because the best treatment depends on your skin quality, anatomy, goals, and medical history.

How Many XERF Treatments Will I Need?

While some patients may notice a difference after just one treatment, the current recommendation is two treatments, at least one month apart, as a general protocol. Your ideal schedule may differ based on your age, degree of skin laxity, treatment area, and goals.

Because collagen remodeling takes time, results continue developing after your appointment rather than appearing all at once.

Ready to Get Firmer?

At Dy Dermatology Center, we love treatments that can do more without asking our patients to put their lives on hold, and XERF fits beautifully into that philosophy.

Whether you’re noticing the first signs of laxity or simply want to support your skin’s firmness and collagen as you age, XERF gives us an exciting new tool to help you look refreshed, lifted, and still completely like yourself.
