Facial Rejuvenation Treatments by Dr. Lady Dy of Dy Dermatology CenterWhen people want to enhance their appearance and improve their aging skin, they often don’t know exactly what kind of treatments they need. Most people complain about looking tired and they think Botox is the answer to fix all the signs of their aging face. That simply isn’t true.

Here’s the thing about aging – it’s not the same for everyone. People age in multidimensional ways: facial wrinkles, hollowness around the eyes, loss of facial volume, neck jowls. The many signs of aging happen in different areas of your face, which means different types of treatments are needed to tackle each problem area. A good dermatologist should be able to examine all aspects of your face and skin, listen to your desires and goals, and put together a combination of treatments that will give you the best results.

Dr. Lady Dy of Dy Dermatology Center in Glenview, Illinois, isn’t “just” a dermatologist: she is a scientist and an artist. When you sit in Dr. Dy’s chair, your case will be treated as it is: unique. She is dedicated to developing multifaceted treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs and goals, combining different types of techniques to deliver the most natural appearance, leaving patients looking refreshed and just like themselves. Their skin will be glowing, radiant and lifted.

The most unique part about Dr. Dy’s tailor-made treatment plans is that she builds them around your timeframe––whether you have one hour or a whole month, Dr. Dy can create a plan that will deliver results.

Here, Dr. Dy tells story of one out-of-town patient who came to her looking for a personalized and multifaceted treatment plan that could be implemented in 15 days.

“When this patient came to me, she knew for certain that she wanted to improve the look of her nasal bridge. She just didn’t know what kind of treatments she needed to achieve it,” says Dr. Dy. “She told me to take the reigns and design a plan that I could implement in the 15 days she was in town.”

Dr. Dy sat down with the patient for a full evaluation to discuss the aging areas to focus on and the timeframe they had to work with. The patient provided a picture of herself from 10 years earlier. With that picture and the information gathered from the consultation, Dr. Dy designed a plan to treat the patient’s aging skin and deliver results that would make her look like herself, just 10 years younger.

“In this patient, I immediately fixed the bridge in her nose. Then, I started with Botox and microneedling treatments. I began with a microneedling session, because it takes approximately four to six weeks for one’s skin to produce collagen following a session,” explains Dr. Dy. “Since I didn’t have that time to wait for those results, I applied Botox during the same appointment knowing it would only take about seven to 10 days for those results to begin showing. The following day I applied some fillers while waiting for collagen induction from the microneedling session.”

After applying the fillers, Dr. Dy gave the patient a one-day break, and on the fifth day of the treatment plan, she began applying laser treatments. She wanted to fit in every piece of the treatment plan within the first five days so she could tweak things after everything settled.

For example, Dr. Dy tweaked the treatment plan after she was able to see how the fillers settled in the patient’s facial skin. “I had to wait for the filler to lift the cheekbones because I knew it would correct hollowness around the eyes,” she explains. “As it turned out, I didn’t need to put any fillers below her eyes because I was able to correct the hollowness and wrinkling in the lower eyelids with just a little bit of Botox alone.”

After the first week of the treatment plan was over, Dr. Dy performed two more microneedling sessions: one at the beginning of week two and one the day before the patient left town to head back home. “Microneedling sessions are especially effective because they help the skin develop collagen.”

While performing treatments in the office, Dr. Dy designed a skincare regimen for the patient, which was started immediately following treatment. “I wanted epidermal turnover to happen quickly: essentially, I wanted the brown spots from the lasers to quickly peel and fade so I could see if another laser treatment was needed right before she left to go home.”

For treatment of the brown spots and to aid in the epidermal turnover, Dr. Dy had the patient use Retinol at night and Vitamin C in the morning. “Not only does Retinol get rid of fine lines and wrinkles, but it also builds collagen––although it doesn’t build overnight, your skin will begin to produce it over time with consistent use.”

Dr. Dy says that epidermal turnover begins to happen anywhere from 10 to 14 days following treatment. “Your skin will start peeling away to reveal new, glowing skin. Although full epidermal turnover takes about eight days, you will start seeing a significant difference in skin tone and texture in as little as 10 days.”

In just 15 days, Dr. Dy’s patient saw her skin transform with the combined treatment plan designed just for her: she flew in to Illinois to begin treatments with Dr. Dy and left two and a half weeks later with new skin. The patient simply wanted a new nose bridge and an overall younger appearance, and Dr. Lady Dy went above and beyond to develop a multi-faceted approach to deliver the most incredible results.
